High Court of Gujarat live streams for the first time its court proceedings

The Gujarat High Court has announced that it will begin live streaming proceedings from today onwards.

This will be a first of its kind decision taken by the Bench headed by the Chief Justice Vikram Nath where proceedings will be streamed on YouTube.

Recently, A Division Bench of the Gujarat High Court disposed of a petition filed while seeking open public access to virtual hearings (Pruthvirajsinh Zala v. High Court of Gujarat).

The Bench of Chief Justice Vikram Nath and Justice JB Pardiwala, while disposing of the petition accepting the points of the Petitioner observed:


 
"... to observe the requirement of an open Court proceedings, the members of the public should be allowed to view the Court hearings conducted through the video conferencing, except the proceedings ordered for the reasons recorded in writing to be conducted in-camera."
